Kingston is an accomplished Actor, and a world-class singer/songwriter who is known throughout much of the world as the lead singer of the dynamic duo: "The Pair Extraordinaire". During the 1970s and 80s they toured extensively with comedian Bill Cosby for nearly five years. In addition to recording four top selling albums for Liberty Records, the duo appeared on numerous network TV variety and talk shows, including three appearances on the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson as well as others.
His success as a singer is well documented. The duo also toured with Jonathan Winters, and appeared in concert with the late Henry Mancini, Linda Ronstadt, and appeared in the main show rooms at Harrah's Lake Tahoe, and the Rivera and Frontier Hotels in Las Vegas and many other venues across the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia.
As an Actor, Kingston has appeared in films and numerous television shows, including the critically acclaimed T.V. series "State Of Grace" in which Kingston was a regular cast member untill 2002. Other credits include ER, Crossing Jordan, N.Y.P.D. Blue and a host of others.
Born in Texas, he graduated from Lincoln High School in Dallas, Texas and attributes much of his success to his high school music teacher/godmother, the late Mrs. Maurine F. Bailey. Kingston attended Huston-Tillotson College and Texas Southern University, where he majored in music and theater arts. He is also known for his legendary volunteer work with young people.
The Academy Award nominated feature documentary "Colors Straight Up" is a film that depicts the highly successful youth program in Los Angeles' inner city. As one of the creators and developers of the program, Kingston is responsible for helping improve the lives of many young people who otherwise might not have had a chance, nor hope, for a better life.
Kingston DuCoeur is presently the Founder and CEO of the Maurine F. Bailey Cultural Foundation, based in Dallas. This Foundation's mission is: "To preserve the legacy of Maurine F. Baily and to honor others whose contribution to youth and community serves to uplift the human condition". Since its inception in July 2002, the Foundation has given scholarships and assistance to deserving high school graduates each year and has honored outstanding community leaders. In addition, this 501(c)-(3) organization has consistently donated to book drives and other fund raisers for students and organizations that help the underprivileged.
Our current task is to adopt a blighted era of the inner city and completely restore and beautify the area street by street, until the neighborhood is a model and example of what can be done when communities and its youth, guided by a vision of excellence, work together.
Kingston played the role of "Sam", Seabiscuit's groom, in the Universal Studios motion picture "SEABISCUIT" starring Toby Macguire, Jeff Bridges, 2003 Academy Award winner Chris Cooper and Elizabeth Banks. Kingston sings as well as acts in the movie.
